What’s Wordpad?

Wordpad is categorized as a  browser hijacker  and has caused Internet users quite some trouble.  It attacks most browsers we use these days, including IE, Google and Firefox, according to fellows who have had this nasty malware on before.

Wordpad is created for the purpose of promoting certain domains. The behavior of running a websites like this is illegal. Browsers can’t work with Wordpad on, and all pages will be directed right to its home, so does your default homepage. Normal online behavior will be impossible as long as you’ve got Wordpad infected on the computer.

What’s more, it will largely reduce system security. And following this is that your computer is highly likely to be attacked by other malware and viruses which attached its homepage. However, it won’t self-duplicate. This means when your IE is infected, your Google will still be clean.

How does Wordpad get into the computer and browser?

The most commonly seen way for Wordpad to get into the system is through third party software. Hijackers (also many other malware) are inserted on wicked websites under the mask of download-free applications. When you download the free application, you are suggested to download some other extension and add-on so as to run the application better and more fluently.

How to avoid being infected with Wordpad ?

Technically speaking, you will be away from Wordpad if you only go through normal and official websites and don’t download or install anything from suspicious websites. And only download programs for updating on the software official websites. When downloading games, make sure you read the EULA carefully before download any extension or add-on.

The lesson for all to learn is that we either don’t go through malicious websites and download applications from them, or get a solid, powerful anti-virus that is supposed to kill the virus and malware as quick as possible before it becomes bigger trouble.
